Sophrologie

What is Sophrology?

The word Sophrology originates from the Ancient Greek word σώφρων  (sṓphrōn + logy), in which Sos means Harmony, Phren means consciousness and Logos, means science. Thus, Sophrology is the science of consciousness in harmony. Its motto is ‘ut conscience noscatur’ meaning “So that the consciousness is known.”

Sophrology is a type of therapy that often transforms itself into a way of life. Doctor Yves Davrou, in his book “La Sophrologie Facile” (Easy Sophrology, 1986) said that “the objective of sophrology is to make the individual responsible and autonomous, so that he can assume his life in an authentic manner: events and conditioning must be addressed instead of simply being endured.”

It consists of the daily practice of techniques and methods of meditation which improve overall health and wellbeing. It is a revolutionary technique that allows for the observation of the world (inside and outside) without judgment, thus leading to the consciousness of the reality which is present inside and outside ourselves.

Sophrology consists of both dynamic relaxation and guided meditation. An important aspect of it is its tri-dimensionality. In other words, Sophrology allows us to work with our past, in our present and to create a better future, all the while integrating our body and mind to be more conscious.

Sophrology can improve your health and well-being.

With a series of quick, easy and effective exercices practiced regularly, it will help you to relax your mind and your body.

When practiced regularly, the benefits of sophrology include: more restful sleep, improved concentration, fewer worries, increased self-confidence, and a feeling of inner happiness.

Using sophrology techniques provides a complete holistic form of therapy.
